Son, Don’t Ask Too Many Questions

Tom Bethell, journalist and author

Some of us want to believe in extraterrestrials because an article of our secular faith holds that there is nothing exceptional about human life. This is dogma, lacking any justification, but it has already been codified as the Mediocrity Principle. The Earth, life, mankind, and civilization are humdrum, routine developments; nothing out of the ordinary about them. And if that is so, we should expect to find such life all over the Galaxy.
—Tom Bethell

"...a scenario describing the genesis of life on earth by chance and natural causes which can be accepted on the basis of fact and not faith has not yet been written. The entire effort in the primeval soup paradigm is self-deception."
—H.P. Yockey , physicist and information theorist

"This is by far the weakest strut of the chassis of modern biology. The origin of life is a science writer’s dream. It abounds with exotic scientists and exotic theories, which are never entirely abandoned or accepted, but merely go in and out of fashion."
—(John Horgan, The End of Science, 1997, p. 138)

Scientists today seem to be desperately scrambling far and wide to figure out how we came to be here. They point to fossils they have found and triumphantly proclaim “Evolution did it!” And even though they can’t conceive how “evolution did it”, they dogmatically (and, one might argue, religiously) stick to their guns, call it “proven“science”, and then move on without batting a skeptical eye.….(All the while hoping, of course, that no one will notice the philosophical skullduggery and/or metaphysical sleight of hand that they employ).

Some honest scientists readily admit that there hasn’t been nearly enough time for Evolutionism’s Tree of Life to have grown up as advertised, but, nevertheless, they insist that it did just that. Sometimes you just have to take things on Faith, I suppose. And, who knows? Miracles might happen!*

In the meantime, flying stealthily under the radar of “hard science”, the scramble to make sense of it all continues. If Time and the Primeval Soup Paradigm won’t cooperate with the unbiased research team of “hard” scientists, then… (By-Golly-By-Gum!)… alternative scenarios simply must be explored, dreamed up, and/or invented….

Enter bazillions upon gazillions of imagined alternative universes bubbling up in imagined Time from God-knows- where.

Enter science fiction.

Enter E.T.

Enter anything and everything except the possibility of a Creator…or an Intelligent Designer. (THAT, you see, would simply be too far-fetched.) After all, there must be a Square-Shaped Idol around here somewhere that will fit into this perplexing, dark, round hole we’ve fallen into. Scientism demands it!

"Sqaure peg...round hole"

Son, Don’t Ask Too Many Questions

Son, we’re sure we’re nothing special,
Lucky bi-peds….undesigned.
Science now has vowed to prove it…
Just be patient…Give us time.

Life, you see, is just a yawner,
Common gaffes from outer space,
Flecks of thinking pointless matter
Nothing more than Conscious Waste.

Son, don’t ask too many questions,
It’s a fact of life, you see.
Look, it’s “Science” …Proven Dogma
Barking up St. Darwin’s Tree.

Nothing really was “created”….
(That today’s a dirty word!)
We just accident’ly “happened”,
Better yet, we just “occurred”!

All the Science Facts we’ve mustered
Have convinced us that it’s true,
Nothing here is for a Reason,
I’m a fluke and so are you.

Son, the best that we’ve come up with
Is we’re rutting, hairless apes …
Nothing really is “on Purpose”,
And from that there’s no escape.

We’re just meaningless concoctions
With no Reason, Hope or Rhyme,
Lucky Mudders gazing outward…
Hapless gene-machines in time.

If you must, though, stand up proudly,
Look around and just pretend.
Tell yourself: “I have real meaning!”
Yes, delude yourself, my friend!

It’s a lie, but it may help you
(And I surely hope it might!)
Science Truth, boy, isn’t pretty …
(As you leave, turn out the light.)

“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.”
—(Ephesians 4: 17-18)

“Through him all things were made: without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood.”
—(John 1:3-5)

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
—(John 8: 12)

* “The complexity of the simplest known type of cell is so great that it is impossible to accept that such an object could have been thrown together suddenly by some kind of freakish, vastly improbable event. Such an occurrence would be indistinguishable from a miracle.”
